The VIKINGS!

Clan History

Although the official founding of the VIKING clan was in early december 2022, the clan was already operating with only a select group of elite players. Although some high-ranking members from other clans were aware of the activity of VIKING players, VIKING founder Innosmurf has mostly kept quiet about the first month. In this first month, the goal of our clan was to build up hype for VIKING as well as secure a stable position in the top 15 of clans. Both of these goals were safely reached, as VIKING had reached top 10 before even opening to the public which sparked interest in this mysterious rising clan.

The founding of the clan had not been entirely smooth sailing however, as both the configuring of the discord server, as well as the writing of the storyline had cost more time than originally thought. The early clan members of VIKING were more than eager to release the clan to the wider public, but Innosmurf still had grander plans he wanted to realize before fully opening, so in the meantime it was decided to grow the inner circle with a few more long time players like Gamerman and former NL clan leader MikeTijger.

VIKING clan relations

Since this clan was founded by several well-known players from mostly ELITE, this clan's founding sparked a large reaction amongst several big clans. Amongst those clans, UNION, X and Elite had the strongest ties to Innosmurf and the other VIKING founders. Since Innosmurf has long been Czar's right hand man in ELITE, they have been unhappy with our founding. Since Innosmurf took along the majority of Dutch ELITE players to his new clan, relations with ELITE became strained. 

X had the complete opposite reaction, as both Innosmurf and Snev were familiar faces in these clans. X's founder, Xesphor, left in a similar situation from Innosmurf and the two has kept close contact, with Innosmurf even becoming the symbolical Co-King in the X server. 

Union's reception was as positive as X's, since Snev, the person who wrote a large part of the storyline and theming, as well as configured the roles and channels in the discord server, was a long-time player and councillor for UNION. UNION's founder, Peacemaker, was also eager to keep close relations to Innosmurf, since he had ambitions to widen the gap UNION had created between themselves and ELITE.

A shift of priorities

Sadly, this meteoric growth would not keep up. The biggest grinders of the clan, Innosmurf and El Magico had begun to lose interest in the game, slowly shifting focus to different party games like Stumble Guys and Chess. In the end, it was decided to merge the clan in UNION, as both clans had helped each other out in contests and smaller games. In reality, this did not have the desired effect, as most of VIKING had already seized operations in Territorial.io, and had moved on to other games or quit the community in its entirety.

A new beginning?

At this point in time, the VIKING clan has officially seized operations. The clan has fallen completely out of the top 20, as no one uses the tag anymore. This had not entirely killed the VIKING community however, as they continued to play games with each other in their almost extinct discord server. This style of playing various party games and an occasional match of Territorial.io was eventually continued in former top 10 clan X. Since both clans had been very friendly since before starting VIKING, the members decided to transfer to X and found a parliamentary party in said clan. Funnily enough, this party was not joined only by VIKING members, as it attracted members from UNION who also had citizenship in X, as well as Dutch X members who wanted to join their Dutch comrades. 

On the 22nd of May 2023, the VIKING party was founded, and debuted with a third place on the overall X leaderboard, with an overwhelming majority of members in their party. As mentioned earlier, this was mostly due to multi-clan players joining this faction to help out their VIKING friends. 
The VIKING party of X still exists to this day, although far less successful due to the hype dying down.
